.:| Fall Paintball Trip |:.
The thrill of the hunt. A rush of adrenaline. And a good, safe time. Every Fall Youth@Highland goes to Ambush Paintball for a day of competitive and exhilarating fun. We arrive at Ambush and students are given safety material (helmet/goggles) and are split into teams. Through teamwork and over many different playing fields students are given a number of objectives to accomplish (elimination, capture the flag, etc.) as a team. This is a perfect event to invite friends to.
.:| Black Rock Winter Retreat |:.
Every January Youth@Highland has it's Annual Winter Retreat at Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville. Students spend the weekend together playing games, spending time together, and taking part in the various activities of the weekend. There is also a speaker and musical talent who provides the sessions. These sessions include a talk relevant to teenagers and a musical element to both entertain and encourage in worship. This retreat is always a big hit and creates a lot of great (and hilarious) memories.
.:| 30-Hour Famine |:.
Youth@Highland is proud to support World Vision by participating in the 30-Hour Famine. This event is lots of fun but is geared towards something more important than our own enjoyment. Students particpating in the event are asked to fast from food and thick beverages (water and juice are usually the standard diet) and raise funds for the fast from friends, family, neighbors, teachers, etc. All funds raised are then given to World Vision who uses the funds to provide food, shleter, and medicine for people suffering in thrid-world countries.
The event is overnight at the church from Friday to Saturday. Various activities have taken place during this time over the years. Saturday morning students go out into the local community and do a number of different service projects. This is encourage action and service not only for people around the world, but right in our own community as well.
.:| Lock-In|:.
Lock-In's are one of the most well-known youth group activities for any church. Why should Highland be any different. The Youth@Highland Lock-In will occur once a year and will be a night for students to come together, hang out, play games, and use all the great facilities the church has to offer. These include a full-size gymnasium and The Youth Center (TYC) and all it's goodies (big screen tv, great sound system, ping-pong, pool, etc.) The event will start Friday evening and go until Saturday morning for a night of safe and fun activities. There will also be a large group game that will get everyone involved and excited.
